I would love to see Mike's finished result of this image. With that thought in mind I had an attempt at colouring in the image and adding some contrast  with photoshop. I think it looks okay but I still prefer the original sketch.

A thought has just occurred to me, according to Jane Frank's excellent book "A biographical Dictionary Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists ofthe Twentieth Century."  Jane mentions that Mike Hinge designed a cryobionic unit for Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, which unfortunately wasn't used. Could this picture and the other 4 pictures of the Cryogenics capsule be part of that project?

This piece by Mike Hinge is an early American advertising piece and I am guessing it is from around about 1966. The illustration is in two parts; the tracing paper with the outline of the image and a gouache painting of the image on illustration board. I have photographed each piece separate with the last image being the two pieces together to make the finished image.
